If you’re 66 or over, you might be missing out on a tax-free payment that could top up your income – and give you access to other benefits to help you with the cost of living.
Pension Credit tops up your income to a guaranteed £218.15 a week or £332.95 for couples. But remember – even if you’re only eligible for a small amount weekly, you could also access other benefits like the Winter Fuel Payment, a bus pass, free dental treatment and a free TV licence if you’re over 75.
You can still apply for Pension Credit even if you have savings or are in work, and it’s estimated that up to 850,000 people aren’t claiming who could be eligible.

You can even backdate your claim – meaning that you could get up to three months in back payments. If you were eligible for Pension Credit between 16 and 22 September, you could still receive the Winter Fuel Payment if you successfully claim before 21 December.
