This week we celebrate all things apprentice-related as part of National Apprenticeship Week 2022.
At Futures, we are passionate about developing our people and our apprentices are a prime example of this. In the past five years we have employed 59 people through apprenticeship, graduate and trainee opportunities and will continue to support people in their careers.
Alongside Nottingham Community Housing Association, we co-own Access Training which provides training and employment support across the Midlands. Most of our apprentices work with Access Training to gain their qualification. Since our co-ownership, Access has:
- supported over 3,000 apprentices
- delivered over 10,000 qualifications
- supported over 200 employers each year to recruit and train apprentices
- seen 90% of apprentices progress into permanent employment.
Chief Executive, Lindsey Williams, started her career as a trainee and continues to be passionate about the opportunities available. She said: “I genuinely believe that apprenticeships are a good route into employment. It’s so important to offer training and studies, alongside real-life experiences to help build skills and confidence in the workplace.
Our commitment is shown through our co-ownership of Access Training and through the programme we have of appointing apprentices, graduate trainees and individuals on the government Kick Start programme.”
We have seen many success stories over the years with many apprentices continuing their careers within the Group, some even going into management roles.
Tom, ICT Service Desk Manager, is one of our success stories. You can read about his experiences here.
Currently, as well as graduates and trainees, we have three apprentices in the business who are working towards their ‘Chartered Institute of Housing Level 2 in Housing Practice’ qualification. Rebecca joined as an apprentice in April 2021 after eight years within the healthcare sector. Read about her career change here.
