The weather is dropping colder and the leaves are starting to turn, and we’ve got autumn on the brain. Although we’re moving away from picnics and beach trips and getting the coats out, there are plenty of great activities to enjoy across the East Midlands – here are some of our favourites!
Woodland walks
A classic for a reason, why not blow out the cobwebs and go for a walk on a brisk autumn day. Think crunchy leaves, golden sunshine and maybe a hot chocolate to warm up afterwards. Perfect for the whole family, including any four-legged friends!

Pumpkin picking
Boys and girls of every age – wouldn’t you like to see something strange?
Grab your wellies and head out to a local farm where you can pick up your very own pumpkin to carve, ready for the big day on October 31. You could go for a classic orange or explore the fields to find pumpkins in white, green and even blue!
Trick or treating might not be on the cards this year, but everyone can get involved with creating a spookily excellent jack-o-lantern to accompany a spine tingling celebration at home.
Unlike previous years, many pumpkin farms are not offering on-the-day ticket entry, so check if you need to book in advance – or you might be in for a fright!

Conker collecting
Did you know the World Conker Championships are held in Ashton, Northamptonshire?
You can collect conkers in local parks all over the East Midlands, whether you’re using them to ward off spiders, smash against each other or get crafty.
