We're looking for a new independent member to join our Audit & Risk Committee

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with senior financial leadership experience who's committed to high standards of financial reporting, audit oversight and risk management.

With nearly 11,000 homes across the East Midlands, we've held the Regulator of Social Housing's highest governance and financial viability ratings (G1/V1) since the grading system was introduced. You'll play an important part in helping us maintain those standards while supporting us to deliver high-quality homes and services. 

You'll have experience in

  • Strategic risk management, including an understanding of systems of internal control and assurance frameworks.
  • Ensuring an organisation’s governance, assurance processes and regulatory compliance with statutory duties are sound.
  • How data assurance frameworks operate effectively, in order to evaluate data accuracy, processes that underpin data quality and security.
  • Finance in either the public or commercial sector, with the ability to be able to scrutinise financial strategy, borrowing, liquidity, and compliance.

You'll also bring

  • Senior finance leadership experience within a complex organisation.
  • Experience of working at, or with, Board level and an understanding of governance
  • The ability to analyse information, contribute to discussion and provide constructive challenge
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Social housing experience is desirable at either board or executive level.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to acting corporately as part of a Committee.

Time commitment and salary

  • Around seven days a year, including six committee meetings (usually at our head office in Castle Donington) and two Board away days, along with preparation before meetings.
  • £4,525 per year.
