The Government's £53 million support package for households that rely on oil heating starts tomorrow. The ‘Crisis and Resilience Fund’ will be available through your local council and is expected to continue until March 2029.
Each council will have their own criteria, and you don't need to be on benefits to apply, so please make sure you contact your local council to see what help you can get.
The price of heating oil has been particularly impacted by the conflict in the Middle East, and we understand that this can make it more difficult to manage household budgets, especially during colder months. If your home is heated by an oil boiler, then we’d strongly encourage you to not wait until your tank is empty before ordering more fuel, and you may also find it helpful to:
- Arrange regular top-ups to keep your tank at a steady level – make sure it doesn’t go below the minimum level.
- Frequently monitor your oil levels, especially during colder weather.
- Speak to your supplier about monthly payment plans or budget schemes.
- See if you can change your supplier to find a cheaper rate.
Planning ahead in this way can help spread the cost over time and avoid emergency deliveries, which are often more expensive.
As this support has only been recently announced, not all councils have information available on how to access the funding, but these are the pages that will be updated in the areas where our homes are.
