In our recent edition of Futures in Focus, we told you about Awaab’s Law, which was introduced on the 27 October and requires all social landlords to deal with emergency repairs, damp and mould within specific timeframes.
In preparation for the law coming into force, we trained over 300 colleagues about their responsibilities under Awaab’s Law, and how to assess hazards based not only on the issue itself, but also the customers’ circumstances. In the first three weeks since the law was introduced, we saw over 400 emergency repairs completed, and responded to 100% of damp and mould emergencies raised within 24 hours.
We’re still working hard to review all cases that come in that might fall under the new law, and we’ll be continuing to train our team members and make sure everyone understands what to look out for. You might find that our team members ask you questions about your household or your health as part of their assessment of the issue you’re encountering – this is just to make sure we’re fully understanding what impact it’s likely to be having on you and the people you live with.
Please continue to report repairs in the same way you always have, and if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch.
