We were delighted to be invited to Daventry Pride in the Park on 29 June, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community with a fun-filled day in the sunshine. It was amazing getting to connect with different community-focused groups from across Northamptonshire – all while enjoying some amazing entertainment and chatting to our customers and neighbours from all over Daventry and the wider area!
Not ones to pass up an opportunity to get you thinking, we asked the crowd two questions using our graffiti walls – “what does Pride in your community mean to you?” and “how could your community feel more inclusive?”. We were absolutely blown away by the responses and we’re proudly displaying our bright rainbow boards at our head office, Futures House, so our team members can find out more! It was especially great seeing so many young people get stuck in and come up with some really thoughtful answers which give us lots to think about as we continue our work in the community.
Sophie Harding, Community Engagement Project Delivery Officer based in Daventry, said:
“It was great to attend Daventry Pride and meet so many different people and organisations finding out what pride means to them in their community, the event has given us some fantastic ideas about how we can help our communities to be as inclusive as possible.”
We’re excited to be getting our progress flags and rainbow pens out again in Belper this weekend (3 August), and we can’t wait to join in with the march through the town centre.
Visit us in the marketplace from midday to have a go on our graffiti wall and let us know what Pride means to you!
