A leading East Midlands housing association will develop 17 new homes in Castle Donington to boost the supply of affordable housing in the area.

Futures Housing Group, which owns and manages nearly 10,000 homes across the region, is developing 12 affordable homes and five shared ownership houses on the site, which is part of a larger Miller Homes development of Charters Gate on Park Lane.

Marcus Keys, Group Director of Business Growth and Transformation at Futures, said: “Futures is committed to tackling the housing crisis, and we’re aiming to create 1,000 homes by the year 2020. This latest development takes us a step closer to our ambitions and provides some much-needed affordable housing in North West Leicestershire.

“As well as the affordable homes we’re developing, we’ve also agreed to build five shared ownership properties, which provides a real help to anyone looking to get onto the property ladder.

“Miller Homes is a developer we know and trust to deliver high quality homes, so we’re delighted to be working with them again.”

The first homes are scheduled for completion in July 2019.

Alastair Parsons, Area Sales Director, Miller Homes Midlands, said: "At Miller Homes we pride ourselves on building homes to the highest possible standard, and we're delighted to be working alongside Futures at our Charters Gate development in Castle Donington.

“We're looking forward to welcoming many happy residents to this desirable village and thriving community."

Futures Housing Group is on its way to creating 1,000 new homes by 2020 to help ease the UK housing crisis. It is estimated that around 300,000 homes per year are needed to meet the national demand.
