A £2 million development has transformed a former working mens’ club into 16 brand new homes in Eastwood.
Limehouse Developments worked with Broxtowe Borough Council and Sturdy Construction to demolish the old Victory Club on Walker Street and make way for much-needed housing.
The new homes are a mix of ten shared ownership, two- and three-bedroom houses, and six homes for market rent including four, two-bedroom apartments and two, one-bedroom houses.
Alan Boucker, Director of Development and Investment for Limehouse, a subsidiary of Futures Housing Group, said: “The Victory Club had become an eyesore since its closure a few years ago.
“We are really proud that we have been able to breathe new life into the site with brand new, quality homes and that we are providing much-needed homes for local people.
“The East Midlands has a housing shortfall of around 17,000 homes and I’m really pleased that we are playing our part in helping to solve the housing crisis.
“Since its launch in 2015, Futures Housing Group has delivered hundreds of new homes throughout the region and we’re always looking to work with new partners to ensure we continue to provide the right homes in the right places.”
Councillor Tony Harper, Chair of the Jobs and Economy Committee at Broxtowe Borough Council, said: “We’re happy to see the development come to fruition to help provide a good quality homes for all residents of Broxtowe. We always welcome new developments like this to help us towards that goal.”
Robert Hodgkinson, of Sturdy Construction, said: “Walker Street was a great development for us and we were eager to be involved in transforming what had become an unsightly building. We were pleased to have the opportunity to maintain the club’s memory by naming the new road ‘Victory Close’ and wish the new residents all the best.”
The Limehouse team has already sold three homes, subject to contract, and is dealing with a flood of calls.
