A talented Futures development officer has been shortlisted as a future leader of the sector.
Development’s Amelia Norton has made it to the final 20 of the 24 Housing Young Leader awards. The 24-year-old will now battle it out against 19 other youngsters from across the sector as part of the hunt for the brightest talent into housing.
Amelia said: “It’s really nice to have a thank you through something like this, recognition for your work and a reminder of the things you may have forgotten you did.
“This is a great opportunity for me and Futures, who took the step to invest in me and promote me.
“I think I’m going to be an accidental careerist. I like to try new things; I never considered housing before I started at Futures.
“I am committed to making a positive change and any opportunity to inspire others is really what I want to do so the chance to go forward and potentially inspire someone else as a 24 Housing Young Leader would help me to do this.”
Online voting is now open for the top 20 to be whittled down to ten who will represent their organisations at a presentation to national housing leaders.

“Since joining the development team, she has shown great initiative and work-ethic to seamlessly fit in with our organisation and our vision for continued growth and providing great homes for our customers.
“I have been really impressed by her progress far and look forward to seeing what she will achieve in the future.”
Futures talent is no stranger to the list, with former Housing Options Manager Sara Mackie (nee Parkin) being crowned the winner in 2012.
