Pigs in blankets were on the menu last week as we hosted free Christmas meals for some of our customers.
More than 150 customers were invited to a free Christmas meal at either Infinite Wellbeing in Heanor, Derbyshire or the Daventry Leisure Centre, Northamptonshire – the two main areas where our customers' homes are. We put on two sittings at each location, one for families with children and another for adult households. We were able to organise the events thanks to funding we'd received from some of our suppliers to spend on our communities.
Colleagues from a variety of teams were on hand to be ‘elves’ at the events by helping to serve up treats, chat to customers and hand out presents. Futures’ Executive Team, including Chief Executive, Tim Mulvenna also joined.
Tim said: “Nothing beats meeting customers face-to-face, so I really enjoyed getting to speak to so many. It was a great opportunity for customers to get to know us as much as it was for us to get to know them.”
Colleagues had also organised a toy drive to make sure every child attending had a present to take home, right from the youngest attendee of three months old up to older teens.
Tim added: “Christmas can be a challenging time for people, so we wanted to try and give a little something back to households and families. It was lovely to see so many happy faces and spend a few hours together eating good food, opening presents and friendly conversations – it’s what Christmas is all about!”
