A new law giving private renters better protection and more rights is now in place. The Renters’ Rights Act came into effect on 1 May 2026, and means private renters now have better rights to request pets, stronger protections against rent increases, and 'no fault' evictions and fixed-term tenancies have been scrapped.
While we're mainly a social housing landlord, we do have some private rent tenants too. If you're one of our private rent customers, then please visit our Renters' Rights Act page with more information about the act, including how to request a pet, and how we can help if you've got any questions.
