Dogs in your home

Please help us to keep our team members and contractors safe.
08 August 2025

We know that pets are a part of the family, and in most properties you’re very welcome to have up to two domestic animals, like dogs, cats, small caged animals or fish. However, we’ve had several recent incidents of our team members and contractors being injured by dogs while working in our customers’ homes, and we’d like to remind you about the guidance we have when we're visiting to complete repairs or support you at home.

If we’re coming to visit you, you will usually receive a notification that we’re on the way. At this point, please make sure your dog is kept in a separate room to where we’ll be working, and keep them there for the duration of their visit. If your dog does need to leave the room (for example, to access outside) please put them on a lead or make sure they’re otherwise kept under control.

We have a duty of care to make sure that our team members and contractors can do their role without risk of injury, and if they are harmed by your dog while working in your home, we will report this to the police.

Please note that you are responsible for making sure your pet is under control and not causing a nuisance, in line with the terms of your tenancy agreement.

If you have any questions about how you can help us to keep our team members safe when we visit you, please fill in our customer enquiries form.
