Customers in Heage have said they feel like a big weight has been lifted off their shoulders, as Futures and Derbyshire Police successfully secured an injunction order on a neighbour.
This injunction order means the person won’t be able to return to their home, or the street, for 12 months.
The male had engaged in a prolonged and sustained harassment campaign against his neighbours, including face to face threats and threats through text and social media.
Our communities team made numerous visits to the homes in the area to support the victims of the ongoing harassment. The team worked with Derbyshire Police to investigate all reported incidents, and collated evidence to support our own investigation, and the police with their legal process.
Unfortunately, the situation began to escalate further for the victims, so we applied to Derby Crown Court for a ‘without notice injunction’, which meant the following day the courts granted the injunction order. This prevented the male from making any contact with the victims and from causing them any form of harassment.
To further protect the victims, we then attended court again a few days later to secure a further term to the injunction, which stops the male from returning to the home and street for a year.
Kirsty Parker, Communities Housing Officer at Futures said: “I’m pleased we were able to respond in such a way that has dramatically improved the victims’ quality of life. They now feel safe and secure again in their own home, which everyone deserves to feel.”
Kirsty Yates, Housing Operations Manager at Futures said: “While cases like this are luckily rare, we hope it shows that we are here to support our customers and communities, and we’ll work closely with partners to ensure a joined-up response when criminal activity is taking place.
“We’re committed to tackling antisocial behaviour so the communities where our homes are based are safe places, where people want to live and feel they can thrive. Futures’ new vision is to provide quality homes and services for better futures, and creating stronger and safer communities helps us achieve this.”
