An inspirational IT worker from an East Midlands-based housing association has been nominated for a national award for providing first class support and introducing game-changing technology where she works.
Joanne Cooper of Futures Housing Group, which manages around 10,000 properties across the region, has been named as a finalist for the Inspirational Colleague of the Year at the Housing Heroes awards, which recognises exceptional people working in the sector.
Joanne said: “It’s amazing to be nominated for this award, I had no idea. Futures has been great to me since arriving and I’ve been lucky to work with a group of people who are really supportive and passionate about what they do.
“I was delighted to play a part in transforming the way Futures work, it’s been really exciting.”
Joanne was nominated due to unwavering support and outstanding attitude to solving complex IT issues. Joanne also played a key role in helping the organisation introduce agile working with new technology, resulting in a £200,000 saving for the business.
Gavin Hitchcock, Head of ICT at Futures, nominated Joanne for the award. Gavin said: ““I’m delighted for Joanne. Her enthusiasm is infectious and her passion for helping others is inspiring. She has an authentic style of customer service and a passion for her role which often sees her come in with a new idea she’s worked on over the weekend.
“Recently, Joanne handled nearly 40% of all the queries into our helpdesk by herself, allowing other members of the team to work on bigger projects, which was really impressive.”
Joanne will attend the Housing Heroes final in Manchester on 24 June to find out whether she has won the award.
