At 59, Alan Mugridge thought his working life was over after his last job came to an end.
Alan, who has 40 years’ work experience in various roles such as industrial cleaning and pipe work, spoke of job-market heartache and was worried he’d never work again because employers: “weren’t looking for the the skills he had”.
Heart-breaking
He said: “I’ve had it time and time again where you put your CV forward and they don’t want you. It’s heart-breaking.
“I was worried that I’d never find anything again. I’m 60 in July and I have found that the employers aren’t looking for the skills I’ve got.
“I’ve always been one of these ‘get out and do it’ types. I don’t want to sit on my backside all day, doing nothing.”

“I’ve been doing general grounds maintenance jobs, working with power tools, cutting tools, blowers, mowers, site clearance jobs. It’s a little bit different to what I have been doing but I enjoy it.
