Keeping our team members safe from sexual harassment

At Futures, we’re committed to keeping our team members safe while they work in our communities, including protecting them from sexual harassment.

Under the Worker Protection Act 2023, we must take proactive steps to prevent sexual harassment at work. We’ve made it easier for team members to report concerns, and we take every report seriously.

Sexual harassment can happen to anyone, regardless of gender. It can take many forms, including:

  • making suggestive or inappropriate comments, even if presented as ‘banter’
  • following, intimidating or blocking someone’s way
  • touching someone when they do not want to be touched
  • making sexual advances in person, online or by message
  • Repeated or aggressive unwanted touching without consent may also amount to sexual assault.

We know most customers would never intentionally harm or harass our team members. However, we also need to be clear that if concerns are raised, we will:

  • carry out a full investigation
  • put support in place to help team members feel safe, including limiting lone-worker visits to specific addresses where needed
  • take appropriate action, including supporting team members to report matters to the police where needed

If you have any questions about our approach to preventing sexual harassment, please complete our customer contact form.

If you have concerns about the way someone has behaved towards you, you do not have to deal with it alone. You can report it to the police by calling 101, or contact an organisation such as Victim Support for advice about your options. If you are ever in immediate danger, call 999.
