A group of fantastic hikers have completed a challenge to raise money for three charities.
In December 2021, Lindsey Williams, CEO of Futures Housing Group, took on the role of President for East Midlands Chamber. With this she has the privilege of selecting three charities to support throughout the year.
Seventeen volunteers from Futures joined forces on Thursday 1 September to tackle 12 miles and a huge 2,500ft ascent to raise money.
The walk consisted of three spectacular summits in the heart of the Peak District, including Grinslow Knoll and Kinder Low, Kinder Scout and Mam Tor on the Great Ridge.
The weather certainly was in their favour and the views made up for the aches and pains. Check out the gallery above for more photos of the scenery as they made their way through the Peaks!
The team continue to raise money for the three wonderful charities which are:
- Focus: based in Leicester, Focus support young people in the area through a variety of different workshops, events and by offering an open door to anyone who needs support. They have seen an increase in mental health issues in young people over the past couple of years and have created a safe environment for them to feel loved, supported and empowered.
- Treetops Hospice: based in Derbyshire, Treetops offer support to people with terminal illness and their families. They provide nurses to help people be comfortable in their homes and support their families and young people through the process.
- Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust: the mission of the Trust is to protect Nottinghamshire’s wildlife, restore biodiversity and inspire people about the natural world. Throughout the pandemic many people really appreciated our greenspaces which is why this charity was chosen.
We are grateful for any donations towards the three charities so that they can continue to do the incredible work they do.
