Midlands-based social housing providers Futures Housing Group, Midland Heart and emh have had a joint £171.7m development bid approved by Homes England, which will see them deliver 3,551 new affordable homes together over the next five years.
The housing associations, which jointly provide over 50,000 affordable homes across the region, have joined forces for the first time to secure this funding for the Midlands.
Under this programme, the government’s homebuilding agency Homes England is committing almost £5.2bn in grant funding to 31 strategic partnerships with 35 organisations nationwide.
Ceri Theobald, Group Director for Strategic Partnerships & Growth at Futures, said: “This is great news for the Midlands, for Futures and for the local communities we support. Joining forces to secure this vital funding means we can do even more to tackle the regional housing crisis and build more than 500 new homes for people and families most in need of an affordable home.”
