Government weather warning: How to beat the cold snap
The government has issued a yellow weather warning of snow as the temperature plummets across the UK.
Cold weather is currently established across the country with widespread overnight frosts. However colder conditions are expected to extend across the country.
Cold temperatures, indoors and out, pose real health risks to many and every winter thousands of people get ill and even die following exposure to cold conditions.
The government’s advice is to keep your home above 18°C and wear lots of thin layers to keep temperatures up. Pay special attention to anyone aged over 65, anyone with any specific health conditions or young children to make sure they do not get too cold.
Check the weather forecasts before you travel and if you must go out, wear shoes with a good, slip-resistant grip to prevent any accidental falls.
