Rent-to-Buy homes to support renters onto the housing ladder

First-time-buyers in Derbyshire will find it easier to save for a deposit thanks to new rent-to-buy homes.

The rental homes are available for a lower rent for five years so tenants can save towards a deposit. At the end of the five years they can then buy the property.

The homes are being developed by our development arm, Limehouse Development, adding to its growing portfolio of homes for rent and sale.

Alan Boucker, Director of Development and Investment at Limehouse, said: “Offering homes under rent-to-buy means we can help more people onto the property ladder.

“We recognise that for some people paying rent and saving for a deposit is tricky and can reduce their chances of ever buying a home, so this new tenure means people can rent and save at the same time.

“We’re now offering homes to suit a range of circumstances as part of our commitment to helping solve the UK’s housing crisis.”

The first six Rent to Buy homes offered by Limehouse are on the Smalley Manor development on Heanor Road, Smalley.

Three two-bedroomed and three three-bedroom homes will be available under the rent-to-buy scheme. Construction of the homes is scheduled for completion by December.

Rent-to-buy is a government-backed scheme which was designed to support people making the move from rented properties, to buying their own home.
