Housing association expands with new 57-home Derby development

A leading East Midlands housing association will deliver 57 brand new, top quality homes in Derby as part of its commitment to tackling the housing crisis.

Futures Housing Group, which owns and manages nearly 10,000 homes across the region, will develop 31 affordable rent, 14 social rent and 12 shared ownership properties in Mickleover, Derby.

The scheme is part of a larger Miller Homes development on Hackwood Park.

Marcus Keys, Group Director of Business Growth and Transformation at Futures, said: “We’re delighted to announce our 57-home development in Mickleover. This is our largest Section 106 acquisition ever and helps us provide some much needed new homes in the Derby area.

“Alongside our affordable and social rent units which is at the heart of what Futures does, we also have the 12 shared ownership properties, which is a fantastic way for people to get on the property ladder.

“We have an excellent working relationship with Miller Homes, and we know they deliver top quality. We’re really excited about delivering these to future customers.”

The first new homes will be available in early 2019 with the scheme set to be completed in 2025.

Alastair Parsons, Area Sales Director, Miller Homes Midlands, said: “We’re thrilled to be working alongside Futures at our Hackwood Farm development in Derbyshire.

“At Miller Homes we pride ourselves on building homes to the highest quality, and we’re looking forward to creating a thriving community in which families can call home for years to come.”

Futures Housing Group is on its way to creating 1,000 new homes by 2020 to help ease the UK housing crisis. In the last five years there has been a shortfall of almost 25,000 homes in the East Midlands.
