First glimpse of new £1.9m development in Eastwood

A CGI image has been released showing how a quality housing development will regenerate a rundown site in Eastwood.

Limehouse Developments, part of Futures Housing Group, is working with Hodgkinson Builders to build 10 homes for shared ownership and six for market rent in Walker Street, on the site of the former Victory Club in the Nottinghamshire town.

The 0.75 acre site used to be home to the Victory Club, a miner’s welfare club, but has been disused for the last four years and fallen into disrepair.

The plans involve a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom properties, which will help local families and first time buyers get on the property ladder. They are due to be completed by March 2018.

The development has been part-funded by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Alan Boucker, Director of Development and Investment for Limehouse, said: “We are excited about investing in Eastwood and meeting the needs of the local people, whilst creating a positive impact on the existing site for the local community.

“By encouraging people to invest in property in the area, we hope to meet a demand for the lack of housing, but also support young people, families and even local businesses through the increased footfall new residents will bring.

“Limehouse is part of Futures Housing Group which has invested £147m in a development programme to deliver more than 1,000 new homes by 2020. Walker Street is part of that commitment.”

Ian Hodgkinson, managing director of Hodgkinson Builders, said: “These plans present an opportunity to help meet the growing demand for affordable housing in the local area and will provide high-quality housing for people requiring good quality housing in Eastwood.”

Plans for the site were approved by Broxtowe Borough Council in March with EKV Design providing full architectural design services and the CGI image.
