We’re proud to be joining housing associations throughout the country to share housing’s story, ‘Owning our Future’.
The housing sector is trying to tell a clearer story about what it is and what it does:
When we interviewed politicians, they said that housing associations didn’t define themselves clearly and that, as a result, other people were doing it for us. They weren’t sure what we stood for, the range of what we do, and what our vision for the future is.
Together, at the Owning our Future roadshows, we thought through how to tell a clearer story. One that got to the heart of what we’re about and why we do what we do. One that was simple and to-the-point, but flexible enough for individual housing associations to adapt to express the particular strengths and focus of their own work.
“Housing associations are united by a single purpose – to ensure everyone in the country can live in a quality home that they can afford.
“For over a hundred years we have delivered on this, whether that’s building low cost homes for Victorian workers or helping young families get on the housing ladder today. We meet shifting housing needs by building more homes, by providing extra support when it’s needed and by innovating to tackle the challenges people face.
“In changing times, we deliver where the private sector won’t and the public sector can’t. We generate income which doesn’t go to shareholders so we can reinvest all our profits in homes and communities. That’s what we have always done; it’s what we will always do.
“If you share our sense of purpose, we want to work with you. If you want to end the housing crisis, you need to work with us.”
