Futures Housing Group has signed up to the National Housing Federation’s Commitment to Refer campaign which aims to end homelessness in the UK.
Currently, housing associations are not duty-bound to deal with homelessness but through this new campaign we are going above and beyond to proactively support people at risk of homelessness.
We are in a unique position to help the people in our community and believe that early intervention and prevention is the key to tackling homelessness.
This campaign adds to the Homelessness Reduction Act, introduced in April 2018, which places more legal duties on local authorities and public bodies to tackle homelessness.
Housing associations are most likely to refer their own tenants or other people residing in the property who are at risk of becoming homeless, but we are committed to refer anyone we come into contact with through the other services we offer.
