In 2017, Futures Housing Group celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Futures Housing Group was formed on 5 November 2007 to act as the parent company of two social housing providers: Amber Valley Housing Ltd and Daventry & District Council.
Since then, the Group has continued to expand and as well as providing around 9,100 affordable homes, it also owns a social enterprise grounds maintenance company, Futures Greenscape, a commercial development company, Limehouse, and co-owns Access Training, a further education company.
We have a clear purpose to create great places, quality services and inspiring futures but specifically, we have ambitions to:
- To play an even bigger part in boosting the supply of new homes to tackle Britain’s housing crisis;
- To build on our expertise and reputation as a long-term community builder;
- To grow and improve the range of homes we offer and expand our employment and training offer so it becomes an established part of our core business;
- To create more prosperity and opportunity in the areas where we work and;
- To be fit for the future as a high-performing and resilient business that can cope with political and economic uncertainty and change
Futures Housing Group was formed as a parent organisation of Amber Valley Housing Ltd and Daventry & District Housing, which was acquired in the same year, to manage a total of 8,643 homes.
Amber Valley Housing Ltd was rebranded as Futures Homescape in 2011. By then we were managing 8,755 homes and our turnover had grown to £33.7m.
The Group showed its ambition to work in different market places in 2012 by adding a grounds maintenance social enterprise company, Futures Greenscape, to its family. In the same year, the number of new homes we had delivered reached 266.
We continued to expand our Group and looked at investing in the future when we acquired Access Training with two other housing associations, helping us to provide top class training and employment opportunities. We also expanded our portfolio of properties and by 2014 we owned and managed 9,021 homes while our turnover grew to £42.3m.
We launched our commercial development company, Limehouse, to enable the Group to offer more homes for sale, market rent and shared ownership to a wider range of customers.
We brought our operating companies in Amber Valley (Futures Homescape) and Northamptonshire (Daventry District Housing) together under a single Futures Housing Group brand and refinanced to create a £147m development programme which will see us deliver 1,000 new homes by 2020. We now have a portfolio of 9,088 homes, a £45.8m turnover and have delivered 555 new homes with 313 staff.
2017 and beyond
We will deliver a company record 195 new homes in 2016/17 and we’re working smarter to ensure our existing assets are fit for the future.
We’re embracing new technology to support a more flexible workforce while focusing on creating effortless experiences for our customers.
And we will continue working with our partners on expanding Access Training to provide more jobs, training and skills to our staff and customers while seeking new relationships and opportunities to grow in future.
£10,000 for Shelter
As part of our 10th anniversary, we raised £20,000 for the homeless charity, Shelter.
In the East Midlands, 5,440 households were found to be homeless. Around 3,500 of those were found to be in priority need, with nearly 2,500 of those households having dependent children.
Homelessness has affected many of our customers at some point during their lives, and we have seen the impact of families that have struggled to provide a stable home for their children. This video explains more:
