Gemma Davey (26) who lives in South Normanton, Derbyshire has been an involved customer for over two years.
During that time she has sat on a number of forums, including those focusing on independent living, neighbourhoods and assets.
“I took a big interest in the independent living forum because my grandpa had dementia,” said Gemma.
“It was very interesting to see how Futures is taking steps to help people living with the condition and a lot of the staff are dementia friends. I’ve learned a lot about how they support people.
“I joined the neighbourhood forum to be a voice for the estate because I knew people were having issues and I wanted their voices to be heard. Seeing how the repairs service works and how the neighbourhood team deal with different issues has been really insightful. A lot more goes on than customers might realise.”
Futures Housing Group is always looking for customers of all ages to get involved or suggest areas that we could review. Gemma is keen for more customers to join her and help shape the organisation’s services.
“I would recommend becoming an involved customer if you want to find out more about Futures,” said Gemma.
“I’ve learned a lot and picked up plenty of new skills, including problem solving and giving presentations. It’s great when you see the work you’ve put in start to make a difference.”
