Shared ownership is designed to help people who want to get on the housing ladder but cannot afford to buy a home outright.
The scheme allows you to buy a share in a property (normally 50%) by way of a mortgage or cash payment. For the share you don’t own, you’ll pay rent to us.
Although you will not own the property outright you will still enjoy the benefits of home ownership. You will hold a leasehold interest in the property.
